Temptations
This surreal fantasy depicts the plants and elements that form the mind-altering substances that, for many, are part of their world. As the gods watch, the pure of body and soul wander through an endless maze of life’s carnal temptations.
For a moment—or perhaps forever—they are lured into another space and time, where illusion replaces reality and the outside world fades away.
Yet beyond it all, far on the distant horizon, remains something else. A place of light, clarity, and enlightenment—still visible to those who are able, and willing, to see beyond the veil.
THE STORY
Temptations was originally commissioned as an album cover in the 1970s but was ultimately rejected due to its provocative symbolism of drugs and forbidden pleasures. A notorious Colombian kingpin later acquired the piece, solidifying its place as one of John Pitre’s most infamous and controversial works.
